The global nonferrous metals producer says new facilities and projects in the United States and Europe are contributing to healthier profits.

Aurubis AG, Hamburg, Germany, says it has generated operating earnings before taxes (EBT) that have increased by 31 percent in the first nine months of its 2025-2026 fiscal year, which began Oct. 1, 2025.

The company, which produces recycled-content copper and other nonferrous and precious metals plus primary copper, so far this fiscal year has posted EBT of 374 million euros ($433.5 million) and what it calls operating earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of 570 million euros ($660.8 million).

“Central positive factors impacting the first nine months included high capacity utilization in production with an improved metal result due to higher metal prices, especially for precious metals, higher revenues from sulfuric acid sales and a slight increase in earnings from the processing of recycling material,” state Aurubis.

The company says increased revenue from copper product sales positively influenced its results in the previous nine months. As well, “The prior-year period was affected by [an] extensive scheduled maintenance shutdown at the Bulgarian site,” says the firm.

“Our focus on the multimetal business is paying off,” says Aurubis AG CEO Dr. Toralf Haag. “We are delivering reliability, even in a highly demanding market environment. This is reflected in our smelters’ heightened operating performance. We are also seeing more and more of our strategic projects ramp up.”

Aurubis says it has achieved additional crucial milestones in implementing its “Aurubis Performance 2030” strategy in the past several months, estimating about 90 percent of the program “had been realized by the end of June 2026.”

The firm points to what it calls the gradual ramp-up of Aurubis Richmond in Georgia in the United States, saying Phase 1 is continuing its extended ramp-up phase in parallel with the start of phase 2 commissioning.

“The advanced technology and processing capabilities of its recycling system make Aurubis a pioneer in sustainable multimetal recycling in the U.S.,” states the metals producer, saying the new site “also opens up prospects for additional profitable growth along the metallurgical value chain in the U.S.”

In Europe, Aurubis says it has successfully commissioned its $ 220 million investment in the Complex Recycling Hamburg production line and is nearing completion on the expansion of a copper tankhouse at a primary copper production site in Bulgaria.
