How Gantry Shears Work
Operation involves a largely automated, high-efficiency cycle:
Loading & Compaction: Materials are loaded into a feeding box, where a hydraulic lid or side cylinders compress the scrap.
Feeding & Shearing: A pusher moves the material, and a massive vertical blade (delivering hundreds to thousands of tons of force) slices it.
Repetition: The cycle repeats automatically for continuous processing.

Force & Thickness: Industrial models typically offer 100 to over 2,000 tons of pressure and can cut steel up to 100mm (nearly 4 inches) thick.
Dimensions & Speed: Blade lengths generally range from 1,400mm to 2,000mm, operating at 3 to 8 cuts per minute.

Gantry shears are critical for processing mixed heavy scrap, rebar, and end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) at scrap yards and steel mills, as well as for on-site demolition.
